Is it Too Early to Start Planning for Christmas?

Planning Christmas

I know, I know! It’s not even Halloween yet!

But if you know me you know I LOVE Christmas!

And that’s not the only reason I say it’s never too early to start planning for Christmas in Your Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Business.

Here’s why you need to start planning for Christmas

#1. Marketing

The most effective marketing is planned at least a month in advance. This lets you make the most of seasonal events and awareness days so your marketing gets the best reach, engagement and conversion.

Planning your marketing allows you to schedule your upcoming offers and marketing around Christmas and the Holidays is so much fun!

Not to mention all the opportunities for fun pictures and competitions

And you don’t have to do it alone! My Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Marketing Planner gives you everything you need to effectively market your business all year without spending hours on it every day!

#2. Staffing

You may need additional staffing over the holidays for increased demand and to cover staff holidays.

The earlier you get that in place, the smoother the holiday period will go for you.

You don’t want to have to turn away business or end up not being able to take a break yourself!

Tip: Get your hiring ads up now either for additional long term staff or holiday cover staff

#3. Holiday Rates & Services

If you have any special services you offer over the holidays or different rates you have for servicing on holidays, the sooner you get that information out to your audience the better.

These holiday rates should be clear to customers and if you have a booking system you will need to update that.

Tip: It’s a good idea to review your holiday rates regularly – you might be ready for a rate increase.

#4. Get Fully Booked!

Encourage your regulars to get booked in early then you know what you have left available to market and can focus on getting fully booked ahead of time

That way when the holidays come round all your jobs are planned and you’re organised ahead of the game

And have a healthy profit to enjoy from being fully booked.

Tip: You need to send out several booking emails – not everyone will see the first one! So schedule a few to go out over the next few weeks (or until you are booked up)

#5. Holiday Gifts

You may decide you want to send out gifts to some of your top clients or you want to send holiday cards.

Both of these take time and organisation – so it’s good to start preparing now.

If you decide not to do gifts – then you can always sent out a digital holiday card to customers.

Tip: Don’t put yourself under financial pressure to do holiday gifts – it’s definitely not a requirement and as your business grows it can become too expensive to do.

Start planning for Christmas today! You will be glad you did!
