When you run a business you have lots of things to do, not just Social Media. That’s why it’s so important to manage your time in an efficient manner. You don’t need to spend hours a day on Social Media for your business.
You might be surprised how little time I spend managing my own Social Media for my Pet Sitting business. It’s not as much as you think because if you are organised and have a plan you can run things very well.
2 Things You Need To Do To Manage Your Facebook Page In Less Than 20 Minutes
#1. Be Organised
You need to do some work beforehand to create content that you can use on your page and find websites/facebook pages that you like that you are going to share content from. But, once you have your list of resources then it’s easy to find things each day that you can share.
If you want to create nice images you can share on Facebook then set some time aside to do that or order them HERE.
If you don’t have a blog then I would recommend you start adding some content to your website that you can share. Learn more about that HERE.
You basically need to have a ‘bank’ of some of your own content you can share daily.

#2. Stick To Your Schedule
When I mentioned earlier that I don’t spend that long on my Facebook Page for my business that doesn’t mean that I don’t spend hours flicking through Facebook every week! This is why you need to have a strict plan for how you are going to manage your page so that you don’t get lost down the rabbit hole of Facebook.
This means knowing each day how much time you are spending on each activity and exactly what you need to do.
It’s key to do the things that build your page and engage your followers each day to give people a reason to keep following you and sharing your content. And it’s important you create a connection with them.

My 20 Minute Plan For Social Media
The day is broken into 4 sections and under each section you will see a list of things to do during that time slot. Stick to it each day and you will soon be managing your Facebook page in less than 20 minutes a day.
5 Minutes (you could do this over a cup of coffee in the morning)
- Check and respond to any comments
- Check the news for any breaking pet new stories
- Review your favourite blogs, websites or Facebook pages for any interesting content to share. Feedly is a great tool to manage this.
5 Minutes (To be done either first thing in the morning or the night before)
- Share at least 5 pieces of content to your Facebook Page
- If you don’t have scheduling software then use the Facebook Scheduling Tool
- As a guide share at 8.30am, 10.30am, 1.30pm, 6pm, 9pm (Tweak over time using your FB analytics)
3 Minutes (Midday Check-in)
- Take a quick look for any new comments and respond
- Share any pet pics you have taken for the day (if that is something you do)
- Don’t be tempted to spend ages scrolling through your own news feed!! Get Off Facebook!
7 Minutes (Do this in the evening when more people are online and interacting)
- Review your posts performance for the day
- Interact with your followers, pose questions, get into discussions
- You can always prepare your scheduled posts for tomorrow for your own content – blogs, images, infographics etc you want to share of your own. (note – I do recommend having scheduling software for this)
Tips To Make This Plan Work
- Create content in advance. Batching your work means you create content all at once. So for example if you want to create pictures to share on social media you wouldn’t create one per day, instead you create 20 or 30 at a time.
- Set an alert on your phone that repeats every day to remind you to do each part of the plan.
- Get on and get off – stick to the time allotted for each section. If you can’t be trusted to only spend the allocated amount of time then set yourself a timer.
- Consider scheduling software to create a schedule of posts each day. Something like Edgar is perfect for this
- Have fun! You should enjoy doing this. Get to know your followers and enjoy chatting with them.
