When I started blogging I thought that my blog was a great place to promote everything I was doing.
What else would it be for – right?
Well wrong. There are very few people that want to read a blog post about how great you are – apart from maybe your mum.
So What Do Your Readers Want To Hear About From You?
#1. Local Resources
Pet owners need things for their pets and you probably don’t supply all of those things. So, it’s a good idea to write about some of the things that you can’t offer to get yourself in front of those potential customers.
For example, you offer Pet Sitting and Dog Walking but your ideal customers also use a Groomer to keep their dog looking nice. If you write articles about the groomers in your area then when someone is searching on Google for a groomer they would find your article.
You might wonder why this helps.
Typically a customer needs to see you several times before they might have a need for services. So the more times you put your brand in front of people the better it is for your business in the long term.
#2. Local Events
People with pets like to attend events – pet related and non-pet related. So if you can help educate them about what’s going on in your area then it’s likely that when they are looking for your services you will be top of mind.
We constantly need to work to keep our businesses in the minds of other people. Not everyone needs your service right now – so you need to keep at the front of their mind so that when they do need what you have to offer they will think of you.
It’s also a good idea to attend some of these events and network with other pet and business owners.
#3. Local News
Writing about local news stories shows that you are keeping on top of what is going on locally with pets. Maybe it’s a news story about a local rescue or a pet law that is changing it doesn’t matter – people just like to know what is going on and why not be the one to tell them.
News articles can be very popular and work very well in promoting your business.
There are a few reasons for this:
- More people get to see your brand/visit your website.
- Often these articles can get a lot of traffic to them if the topic is trending.
- If you want to do Facebook Ads then you can re-target these people that visit your website.
