As the holidays are getting closer it’s important that you start thinking about your holiday marketing. If you want more customers/bookings/sales in your business then you need to chase after them – not sit back and wait for them to come to you.
If you have not heard of the Rule of Seven then it’s definitely something you should keep in mind when you are marketing.
Basically a potential customer needs to see or hear your marketing message at least seven times before they take action and buy from you.
Surprised it’s seven times?
With that in mind lets get down to some ways you can get in front of your ideal customers this holiday season.
5 Holiday Marketing Tips For Pet Business Owners
#1. Be Organised
There is no point trying to market your business without a plan. You need to be organised ahead of time with a plan of what you are going to share, when you are going to share it and how often.
Having a marketing plan in place will make things much easier when you are busy dealing with other things happening in your business.
Make sure you take a look at what content you have previously created for the holidays and see what needs updating, what you can use and what new pieces of content you need to create.
It’s good to create a list of holiday content you have so you can refer to it each year.

Email is one of the best ways to keep in touch with customers. More people will see your emails straight into their inbox as opposed to social media posts where they might not see them all.
That’s why growing an email list is so important and something you should make a priority. Not only do customers need to be on your email list but people who are potentially interested in what you have to offer.
Make sure you are sending emails regularly for booking/sales well ahead of time. Look at who booked/bought last year and target them with different emails. You know they travelled or bought during the holiday season last year – so it’s likely they will again.
Make the process easy for people and lay everything out clearly in your email.
And don’t just send one email and think you are done – keep emailing!!
#3. Blog Content
There are so many ways you can use your blog to educate and entertain potential customers around the holidays.
Think about the things people are interested in and need during this time of year.
- Things to do in your area
- Ways to keep your pets safe
- Things to buy for pet lovers
- The best events to attend
#4. Social Media Engagement
As well as posting messages about holiday bookings and sales on social media you need to ensure you are sharing fun and engaging content. Something that will keep people interested in your content so that when they are ready to book/buy they think of you.
There are so many fun ways to get people talking to you on social media.
- Photo share requests
- Funny memes
- Inspirational Quotes
The beauty about collaborating with other businesses is the chance to get in front of their audience. When you do a competition or create a piece of content with another company they will share it with their audience – people who may not already know you but might be interested in your services.
You could do reviews of different products or services, places or events.
Or you could run a competition in conjunction with another business.
