At some point you have probably wanted more customers in your business. And generating more traffic to your website is one of the many ways that you can achieve that.
There are still some people that think just having a website should do that for you. Maybe they have been told that a good template will do that for them, or that the website needs to be SEO’d for them or that better hosting will make the difference.
The only way, in my opinion, to get traffic to your website that will last is to create content on your website.
The more pages on your website, the more chance that your ideal customers will find you and learn about your services. And the beauty of creating this content is that you have it forever.
It’s not like placing an advert that only runs for a few weeks, drives traffic to your website and then it’s gone. This content is out there forever for people to find, AND you own that content.
Simple right?
So what content should you create?
The first thing you should do is think of the problems your business solves – what is it that you are helping customers with?
What are your customers asking you every day when they meet with you or call you? How much, how often, what do you do, how do you do it? All these types of questions need answering.
What are your customers pain points? What type of information do they connect with?
What are they asking Google? Yes, we want to be answering the questions people are typing into google so that they can find your articles.
What is currently newsworthy? If you think about what you do first when you hear a news story and want more information about it – you hop straight onto google to find out more about it. So why not be the source of that information for people?
What are you competitors writing about? I’m not suggesting you copy (that’s not cool!) but you should definitely be keeping an eye on what others in your industry are writing about and what is getting the most engagement.
These are just some of the many ways you can come up with content for your website. There are hundreds of ideas around you all the time.
Top Tip – We don’t always have to write about pets!
Think about all the other things that your ideal customers might enjoy and be searching for information on.
They travel right?
They eat out right?
They have homes right?
All of these are great subjects for you to write about!
