3 Reasons Your Pet Business Needs A Blog

If you know me, then you know that I love blogging. Whenever anyone asks me what they should be doing to create more business I tell them they need to blog.

But what you might be surprised to know is that I didn’t always feel this way. In fact the first person that told me to write a blog for my business I didn’t listen to. I wrote it down on my list of things to do and then decided that I had nothing to say and if I did who would be interested.

But since then I have really realised the power of blogging and how it can be especially powerful for your business when you are blogging in a niche.

If you are starting a Pet Business I can tell you now there are not that many people blogging  – so you need to jump on it now and be the leader in your area.

3 Reasons to Blog for your pet business

So why should your Pet Business Have A blog?

#1. Answer Questions

Everyone has questions – so why not be the person in your industry that answers them. If you don’t answer them on your blog then sooner or later someone else will answer them on their blog.

So when a pet owner goes to Google and asks “Why Should I groom my dog?” or “How much does a Pet Sitter cost?” whoever has written about those subjects on their blog will come up in the search results. Why not make it YOU who answers those questions? You who people find in the search results.

#2. Become an Authority

When I am looking for a product or service I want to hire someone who knows what they are doing. What better way to show people you are an authority on your business than to blog about everything to do with that business.

If I am looking at 2 websites and one has a blog with loads of information and the other one doesn’t – which am I going to choose? I am going to pick the one who has authority in their field.

#3. Engage with your customers

If you are on social media (and you should be) then you need things to share with your customers to get a conversation started. Sharing cute and funny pics of cats and dogs all day just doesn’t cut it. You need to educate your social media followers. So what is better than your own content to share? Nothing! Yes you still want to share topical articles and news stories  – but you need to have your own content to share.

These are just some of the reasons you should get started on blogging. My advice is not to get bogged down in why you should or shouldn’t blog – but instead get ahead of the game and your competition and start on those blog posts.

Top Tip

Don’t start blogging like a crazy person every day for a month and then post nothing for 6 months. When I see that I wonder is the company still in business.

Be sensible about the number of blogs you can create each week month. Schedule them so you always have a few weeks blogs in hand.
